I am lazy too and didn't read through the whole post so I apologize in advance if you had answered this question, but do you get anything when you turn the key, any power anywhere? Is your starter making any noise? is your starter getting power? Go through with a little pen probe test light and test different spots on you Heep to see where and where not your getting power.

You have power going to the coil but nothing coming out? even with a new one? What voltage do you have going to the coil? That is hard to believe, strange as strange can be.

Have you checked to see if it's actually got spark?

This will require a friend.
  1. Remove one of the spark plug leads, preferably a long one.
  2. Put a spare plug on it, lay the plug on the valve cover so you can see the electrode. Make sure the plug is touching metal to metal, but the very tip should not be.
  3. Crank engine and watch the plug for spark. Should be fat and blue.
DO NOT HOLD ONTO THE PLUG WHILE THE IGNITION IS ON. Trust me, it will hurt and if the shock hits you wrong or you have a pre-existing condition it could kill you / hospitalize you. At the least it will make you spill your beer.

Ok, let's move backwards then. Pull the distributor cap and check the rotor and cap to verify they aren't worn out. If those look OK, disconnect the power feed to the ignition coil and put a 12v tester on it (NOT the cable running from the coil to the cap, but the smaller 12v line running to the coil). If you have power there, then the coil is bad.

k i got 4 wires runnin in. two yellows black/grey and green. two yellows r power one has 12ish volts when keys on the other has 4ish, black/grey should be ground and green tach....thats another thing, my RPM gage usually flickered opon startin up. now its not. so which part do i replace now. o and what about the base platform could that be bad. maybe short somewhere inside.

I just delt with the no start problem, I replaced the cps & ign coil & still had no spark. After a lot more troubleshooting I replaced the camshaft sensor (pick up coil) and now everything is fine.

In just the last week or two I had the same problem.Fuses all good, power to the coil but nothing coming out.I bought the cam postion sensor that goes under the rotor in the distributor, take a look it's self explanatary. That did not do it. It was the CRANK POSITION SENSOR. I thought it was the coil to when I had power going to it but none coming out but turns out the ol crank position sensor was the problem.
