ok guys i need your help, i need to know where the o2 sensors are located on a 97 xj 4.0 automatic 4x4. I am going to take them from a jeep a guys parting, what tools do i need and where are they located how do they look. Also gonna take the pvc valve. where is that located, what does it look like and what tools do i need to remove. i will also be removing the alternator, where should i start on that, what tools should i bring. same for an alternator..

Take a complete tool box with you, you never know when you may need that special tool. 7/8 wrench will get the O2 sensors out, they're located on the exhaust before and after the cat convertor.

at auto zone they said my xj has 3 o2 sensors

Top of the valve cover. The one on the front is the crankcase breather tube and the one on the back is the CCV. You shouldn't have a PVC on your 4.0.

i think i do, because everyone i've spoken to until now has said to replace it. i have oil coming into the air filter
