Need HELP intermittent power loss/surge

Default Need HELP intermittent power loss/surge

98 cherokee sport

annoying loss of power followed by a surge of power....

already changed plugs wires cap and rotor

changed cat converter and cat back exhaust

just wondering if anyone else had this problem and other possible causes

would a bad crankshaft sensor cause this? .....i was thorwn a code for either that or the camshaft sensor...already replaced the later with a new distibutor

but ive had that code since i bought the xj a year ago never had the power loss problem til a week ago

you can check ur crank position sensor with a multi meter at the plug end located next to ur throttle body. get a chiltons or haynes book for ur jeep and it will tell u what the correct ohms should be. if the sensor does not read in the correct range its probably the problem. also check ur fuse box under the hood my 98 se had a similar problem and was just a loose wire goin into the fuse block to a relay
