yea im going to try what i posted but im not to worried if it doesnt work ill probally do something like this


at first when this happened i was so depressed but now seeing all the people it has happened to im sure ill find a good fix.

 

ya man, it's weird how much ingenuity you gain the longer you work on your XJ. After a while, nothing seems impossible lol

 

i havent done it yet, but from thinking about it, if you cant get it out, maybe just drill through with a bit the same size as the threads, so you basically take the threads out, and then get a tap and make some new threads in the factory nut, basically just enlarging the hole, and get a grade 8 bolt from your hardware store and use that. i dont know if the factory nut would have enough meat to do this and have it be secure, as i have not done it yet and dont know how large the nut is, or if changing to a larger bolt wouldnt allow the bolt to pass through the bushing, though it seems logical you could just drill it out slightly larger too. just my idea....i have no clue if it would actually work, but i think i would do that, as i have no welder, but ALOT of taps, and also i am too impatient to wait for one to get to my house in the mail lol

 

whelp it worked, i am really surprised haha, what i did was drill out the old broken bolt right threw the center of it with a 3/8 bit, then i took a 1/2 bit and just drilled about 1/4 inch just enough where i could fit the 1/2 original bolt from the other side in there, soaked everything with pb blaster, and screwed in the original bolt, i guess it pushed all the other junk out because it seems like the threads are saved, just to make sure i put a whole bunch of torque on it to see if it would strip but it didnt.

i really am so surprised this worked haha, just the break i needed to speed me up on geting my xj back together. but now im on a stall plan because its 5 oclock sunday and i need 3 new 1/2 leaf spring bolts, gah...
