Default need help deciding

I have a 96 xj 4.0, auto, 170,000 miles, but 10,000 on a rebuilt motor. A few months ago my tranny went out. I bought a 95 toyota camry but I miss my jeep terribly. First nice weekend in spring I'm putting a tranny I bought off a jeep guy for $300 into her. Now the debate I'm having is what I should do to her after she's fixed. The camry I have runs great and needs NO work at all. The debate I'm having is if I should fix my xj, buy a wrangler, or just sell her for cash. I've been dying for a 5 spd wrangler but never had the chance to buy one. The jeep I would want to buy would have to be a little project because of cash. My xj needs plenty of work (all the bushings are toast, transfer case won't go into 4H, and several small things), but if I were to keep it I would want to lift her up. Somebody just give some words of wisdom. Either fix my xj, buy a project wrangler, or just cash in my chips and invest the money wisely. Any help is appreciated!

Well my toyota is my daily driver so I can't really get rid of it. It gets great gas mileage and I commute every day to work. What I'm looking for is a weekend project jeep, just something to consume my time and spare cash. I just bought my camry after my tranny went out, so I'm still paying on it. Got it for $2500 and it has barely over 100,000 miles and it was owned by an older lady so it was well taken care of.

Personally, I'd drive the yoda back and forth to work, and keep the XJ for the weekend project. I too really want a 5-spd Wrangler TJ, but the sell prices are rediculous. Other than a slightly longer wheelbase, the XJ and TJ are very similar in thier underpinnings, and with a little work, there's no place the TJ can go that an XJ can't. I don't know your level of mechanical skills, but swap in a 5-spd, remove the doors, and fab up a roll bar, and you'd hardly know you weren't in a Wrangler. But that's just me....

well I know a good bit about mechanics, but my speciality is motors. Problem is, I've never put in a transmission, and I can't afford a mechanic right now. I've got a few buddies that know how to and they're helping (thank god), it's just that the owner before me really messed the whole thing up. He jb welded half the car together and I've been picking up the pieces since I've bought the jeep. That's why I've been debating the new vehichle or not
