Ok I own a 89 Jeep Cherokee and everything's fine but the motor has a knock plus lifters are noisy (all the time) and broke bolts into thurmostae housing. Well theirs a 90 Grand Cherokee rebuilt at 120,000 and was driving till got totalled so someone bought motor to fix their sons wrangled but fixed there's after all. Guy told me it was apparently rebuilt and new freeze plugs plus motor looks clean. Question is does a Grand Cherokee swap right into a Cherokee? Some said yes other said no so Idk I need information.

First off, there is no 90 Grand Cherokee.

Get me the numbers off the passenger side of the engine above and to the right of the distributor.

Does it have the intake on it? If so, there's a question or two that would help us find out what year/vintage it is.

 

The man is away and wont be back till next week or so. He said his sons might be able to get home and let me see, but no promise.

 

No way to be sure til then I guess.
