Exclamation Need all IMMEDIATE help!

I have a 98 cherokee classic, this is my daily driver. After starting it up this mourning and let it warm up. I started to drive it and then I noticed MAJOR jerking. I CANT TELL WHERE ITS COMING FROM. Its possibly from the shifting of gears. the faster I went the harder it jerked (jerked forward). Check engine light is NOT on. PLEASE IN NEED OF HELP.

Thanks in advance.
John

Its ok, but I can say its coming from the back. Could it possibly be my belt slipping.

Try putting gas some gas treatment could be bad gas or small amount of water in gas. Sounds like a engine power problem.

Maybe you chipped a few teeth in the diff somehow? Or your transmission could be getting ready to die. Check your transmission fluid too.. Is the engine running fine, no change in rpms during this "jerking"?

Put the rear end on jackstands. With transmission in neutral, turn the wheels. The driveshaft should turn. Listen for any problems and feel for any vibration or rough turning. While you are at it, grease the fittings on the driveshaft. I believe one forward and one back. You might also change the differential fluid. Then you can check inside.

Have you checked on Craig's list for the cases? Rear diff or transfer, there's usually 4 or 5 guys in any major city parting out cherokees. put cherokee in the search bar under auto parts. might be woth a drive, especially if you can get multiple parts for a deal.

does it jerk only when shifting between gears or just randomly? Vacuum lines, trans fluid?
