Need advice on Compression issue
Hey gang,
I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 Cherokee ($900) that's having some engine troubles. The seller mentioned "Two pistons arent giving full compression so it could be head gaskets or something major."
I was wondering if anyone could give me insight to possible cost I might be looking at if I purchase and its a head gasket (and is this something an amateur can do). Also, he mentioned "something major" what might define "major" LOL.
Thanks for any help/insight.
Here's a picture of the possible purchase...

Major would be something like piston rings or scored bores which would require an engine rebuild. In the worst case you're probably better off going for an engine swap for a decent 2nd hand one....depending on what it'll cost you to get your hands on one.
