I have to bend back the lip on my firewall after my hood hyperextended. I am just wondering what you guys think would be the easiest/best way to get this lip straightened out. I was thinking of taking a cylindrical piece of steel and laying it in the groove and just pounding on that with a hammer. What do you think? You might want to just grab the lip with pliers, such as Vise Grips, and bend it back. Pounding on a piece of wood or metal might work, though moving the rubber seal out of the way temporarily could assist access.

Just curious, but how did it hyperextend? Driving down the road and fly open?

 

yep that's exactly how it happened, unfortunately.
