Have any of you folks ever seen these before? I poicked it up at the junkyard for 5 bucks. Is this an oem thing of aftermarket? It has about 22 feet of cord to move around with.

 

Its OEM. I have one in my '87.

I had one in my 1990 cherokee, when I sold it (4 days ago) I kept it and will be trying to install it somewhere on my 2000 cherokee.

 

Interesting... I always thought mine was installed by a PO because it says Ford on it.

I have seen it in my friends gmc but mine is just stationary, cool find though

 

my 88 jeep had one but my 91 doesnt.. the PO ripped it out sadly

Chevy Silverados and Z-71s have them mounted on the passenger side in the engine compartment. The chord is long enough to use when changing tires all the way around. It winds back into itself. Plus, it's waterproof.

Nice find. I totally forgot about those and will have to pick one up for myself.

 

My '88 has the same thing!

 

I have over 20 of them... they are an amc jeep production line product. chly did away with them along with alot of great things real jeep builder products//
