mystery headlights

Default mystery headlights

Hello there. So the othernight i got home and parked in the garage like usual but i left the lights on no biggie i thought i pushed the switch in and the marker lights went off but the headlights stayed on until i turned the back to the on or run position. Has anyone heard of this before?

m 00' does that,but they go off after a min. or so.

yes its a delay circuit
if you tern the key off before the lights the lights will stay on for a minute
if you turn the lights off before the key they will go off with no delay

It is an option, my 87 Limited has it, but my 89 base did not.

My 93 does too. I thought that was only a newer car feature, so the first time I did it I thought something was wrong!

is there a way to put it in the newer xj's? like grab the relay from an older xj? i have a 97
