Is my oil pressure low?
When the engine is cool and I just start it up the guage shows 40.
After I get to 210 running temp, the pressure reads fine at 2000 rpms or greater. below that, it is marginal.
At idle it show 10,11 or 12 - hard to say on those guages.
If I am wheelin and the engine gets warmer - say 215 or so then it is a right at 10 but never less... however, if I turn the jeep off for just a minute or two and start it back up, it reads no oil pressure until I get the rpms up to 2000 and then it kicks up.
I always felt like it was reading slightly lower than I would like but within the rule of multiplying the rpms by 10. Except when hot.
So is it time for a new oil pump? How difficult is that to do one self?
