Default My offically-unofficial cargo area build thread

Well... now that 95% of the external stuff is finish on my Midwest Trail Heep. Its time to start on the interior cargo area.

The idea behind the Jeep is that it is built to run on the types of trails we have in the midwest. So no need for super-slinky suspensions, or 40 inch mud paddle tires. But I need a functional, useful cargo area. I wheel with mostly SWB junk, so lots of time I am on my own spare parts wise.

Here is what I am beginning with.....

Here is another shot with a hint of things to come...

So what limits the drawer travel? In other words could you accidentally pull the drawer out onto the ground spilling the contents?

The drawer slides themselves have stops on them to prevent you from pulling them all the way out. The ball bearings would be flying everywhere elsewise.

A WAD is the FIB's northern neighbors...
My buddy Sean is responsible for those stickers. he gave me the box for helping with his top chopping...

Didn't know that the drawers had slides. Saw a program on DIY TV last weekend about a guy who built a set of these for his pick-up. He had no slides so I mistakenly also thought you didn't have any.
You will have to explain what a FIB & WAD are to those of us in other parts of the country.
BTW Excellent product placement.

There's a guy on JeepForum that built some really nice drawers like these, I'll try to find the link.
