My jeep refuses to stay cool in this 112 degree heat!!

So basically i have never had cooling issues before ever with my 1989 cherokee, before, and after i rebuilt it... well, until this week. Its always stayed at a constant perfect temperature, and the hottest it ever got was 210 sitting in road construction when its 110 degrees outside.... even rock crawling in moab its never given me trouble.... well this week its started to overheat... I noticed my electric fan wasn't working so i swapped the relay, and now it works great, i even got a newer fan that pulls more air. It helped... somewhat...Well today it got up to 112 degrees outside, and my jeep will not stay cool worth its freaking life! once its driving down the road it will stay just below 210, but as soon as i stop or slow down it starts to climb, and coolant will spray out of the coolant pressure tank. Like i said i have never had problems, even in last years hot st. george summer..... but this week the engine started out sorta getting hot, and over the days its getting worse and worse. Its hasn't had fan shroud since the rebuild, it broke in half..... but i have yet to see a cherokee that still has one haha. Its only had 5K on the new motor.... so all these parts are basically new still.

electric fan
radiator
hoses
t-stat
t-stat housing
water pump
Now the only thing i haven't really replaced is my fan clutch.... I remember when i first got my cherokee it sounded like a semi truck because the mechanical fan was so loud..... even during the middle of the winter when my jeep was cold the fan would be freaking loud....... i don't know if i just got use to it, or have gone deaf but i don't really seem to hear the fan as much anymore.... also when i was waiting for my engine to cool down i could spin the mechanical fan pretty easy, so is it supposed to be hard to spin when the engine is hot, i would assume so, but i don't really know? So, any ideas? its becoming really frustrating because this is my daily driver, and it simply just needs to work.... but jeeps never really seem to all the time haha.... i'm thinking its the fan clutch, but i just wanted to put it up on the fourm so i can get some advice from what you guys think... thanks

well the thing that gets me is it only happened this week... its been this hot outside before, plenty of times... but only this week its started having problems.. thats why i'm thinking it might be the fan clutch... Ive been looking around for a long time for a fan shroud at salvage yards, junkyards, auto parts stores... but still no luck. Its been running without one for a long time, i agree i defiantly need one, and i'm still searching.

I just replaced the water pump and thermostat in the Money Pit, I went with the above high flow thermostat. I run it around the field and let it idle for an hour today. It was 95 degrees out. I figured I was going to see a heat issues, since I don;t have an electric fan or shroud for it. But it never gurgled or blew any antifreeze.
I'll be replacing the one in the wifes 95 with the one above next time it heats up just climbing an little Ozarks Mountain.
sound like possible air pocket in the cooling system. if you have the resourse's get a coolant pressure tester and test the system to check for leaks. also you might think about upgrading the system to the open system. if you go to my page I have pics of what i had to do when i changed mine over to the open system. Being able to check coolant level in the actual radiator helps alot. the renix sytem dosnt really allow for that. also maybe try a ehxaust gas coolant tester just in case worst case cenario and you have a cracked head. an EASY WAYBUT NOT TO SAFE WAY to check your clutch fan is get it hot and wrap a wrag around a stick touch the fan if it stops imeadiatly it's bad. remember I said not to safe, so all you out there who are going to yell at me, I said not really safe.

if you need a fan shroud i would go to www.partsgeek.com i found the link on here from someone else who posted about it because i needed one
i paid 5.99 for the shroud and it was like 9 bucks or something for shipping which total was 16 it took a 7 business days to get here because i ordered on friday night so i had in in a week on monday wasnt too bad put it on today was exact fit

im happy with it like i said exact fit it was brand new in the box cant get any cheaper than that

Possible mods you can do to help release heat in the engine bay..
Hood vents or you can put a few washers at the hinges to raise the hood so the hot air can escape. just my 2 cents
