I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It is a 4.0L, mostly stock besides exhaust and some visual stuff. Anyway, at any driving speed or rpm, even if just idling the motor will start to spit and sputter and eventually come out of it and drive normal again. This has been going on for a while, didn't seem that big of a deal. Well one day the truck began to jerk violently as if no fuel to motor or something was binding. Trying to figure out what is going on here. FYI the second O2 sensor is plugged in but not attached to exhaust, and check engine light has been on for quite some time now. Just started continuously blinking the other day, not always but sometimes. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Tried the OBDII method
I used the website you provided and tried the OBDII method because that is what the Jeeps of my year have. It went through the 000000 to 999999 but then nothing, check engine light went off that is it,lol. I am going to try the OBDI method and see what happens. At worst I will just have to get the actual computer that plugs right in. Thanks for the website though it will come in handy will future ventures I am sure.

As stated earlier, get that second O2 hooked into the exhaust system where it belongs. That might be the cause of your issues.
Keep us informed as to what comes up.
