im workin on my 92 cherokee puttin in my rebuild motor and im down to the last to bolts. i did a serch and found out that the are internal torx and e12 but i still cant reach them. im thinkin about lowering the tranny a little to get there if i take the crossmember loose can i just lower it a few inches with out having to take anything else loose. i dont wanna hurt the shift linkage or anything.

 

yes you can lower it some
the 4wd linkage will star to bind at some point just go slow with it

 

Here is what I did..I put a floow jack under the crossmember where it bolts to the tranny mount..unbolted the corssmember from the side rails and slowly lowered it to it tilted and then used a ton of extensions until I could reach it and had a buddy help guide me in. Fromt there it was simple.
