sup guys i got a 97 jeep cherokee sport i6 and ive been having a problem recently with starting up. When i turn the key the car wont turn over and my radio restarts and my gas gauge goes below empty. so i need to pump the gas peddle a few times then it turns over, if i take my foot off the pedal my rpm's go down and the engine shuts off. i have to do this 5-7 times before the car can be up and running. This happened about 3 times and have no idea what it could be, the check engine light came on today as well. Any help please!!!???
take it to your local auto parts store have them run the code its usually free...and go from their, in my experience a bad battery can cause some symptoms like that....not often, but i've seen screwed up batteries do odder things...they should be able to load test the battery/charging system too

X2 get it down to the local autozone or checker & have them scan the check engine light. Sounds like poor fuel flow to me... find out what the obd2 scanner says, & have them test the bat. & altrlernator too.

It sounds like the IAC.
a simple and near free fix is buy a can of throttle body / carb cleaner and take apart the throttle body and clean the IAC ports and everything. if it makes it better you know it is the IAC.

I misread the op. Sounds like an electrical problem on top of a fuel problem. IAC would be a good cheap place to start! Also see if they have a fuel rail pressure gage in there loan a tool program!
