Default My Cherokee Does Not Go Pass 40 MPH!

Well, my 91 cherokee does not go pass 40 mph. I think its leaking tranny fluid. I push the gas all the way down and it does not go any faster than about 40. I dont know if it could be my tranny or maybe I need to put more fluid? I had this same problem like a week after I bought it except it wouldnt go above like 10 mph. I gave it a tune up and it ran perfectly fine. Now about 1 and a half months later its doing it again. Please Help Me. Thanks.

the no start issue is completely seperate. that is a bad neutral saftey switch. sounds like the other is the trans slipping. have you checked the fluid level?

Oh yea when Im driving it also makes this noise when its shifting like a clinking noise. When i press the gas hard and when its downshifting. I can feel it and it makes noise I dont know if that has anything to do with it also.

The trans dipstick is closest to the firewall, read the instruction on dipstick how to check level.

This may sound stupid, but my buddy bought a Blazer for $50 because they thought the trans was blown. It wouldn't go more than 30 MPH. To make a long story short, the cat ended up being clogged. He took it off and drove it around and it had all it's power back. He replaced the cat and sold it for $1500. It's worth checking the cat.

Just rip it off and test drive it around the block. Don't beat on it though, because you could fry the valves. Also, it's illegal to not have a cat so after you test drive it, make sure to reinstall one.
