Default Well...

In the end the truck got tossed down a kind of nasty hill and rolled a couple of times. The short isn't a problem any more, it may even be repaired, though I'm reluctant to suggest the method we used to anybody we want to see again. If you know someone who needs some driveline parts, send them our way. We'll work them a heck of a deal!

Thanks to everybody for the in-put!

Default I suppose..

Rather than to say I "Trashed the rig" I like to think that my son found a particularly aggressive way to approach the descent that led to a spontaneous partial disassembly. But yeah, the rig's trashed.

And all of the parts were gathered from the site of the incident and no insurance claim was filed?

Default Why would you ask?

Interesting questions. Do you work for or are you a lawyer? Do you work for or are you affiliated with any state, municipal or federal governmental agency? How about an environmental group? Are you looking to make money at my expense or are these questions just meant to remind me of how I ought to behave?

There's a personality type that behaves responsibly but assumes that others won't unless some authority is there to make sure they do. PETA, The Sierra Club, Green Peace and so on are full of this sort of thinking. I imagine the mind set must be a bit like the one a parent holds toward his children, making sure they clean up after themselves and take responsibility for the messes they make. I know there are people who appreciate having someone to make sure they've done those things they should, I've had those people work for me, but most folks aren't irresponsible. Assume the best or, if it matters enough, check it out on your own.

In as much as is possible, keep the rubber side down!

What I am is a concern off-road enthusiast that has seen far too many trails closed down because of the irresponsible actions of others.

What I am is a concern off-road enthusiast that has spent my time cleaning up trash from trails left by others...including their discarded parts.

What I am is a concern off-road enthusiast that has left the comfort of my home in the middle of the night to help pull stranded wheelers out of situtations that probably should never have gotten themslves into.

What I am is a concern off-road enthusiast that is sick and tired of my insurance rates going up because of insurance fraud by others.

So when I read comments like this:
In the end the truck got tossed down a kind of nasty hill and rolled a couple of times.
I tend to assume the worst.

Can you blame me, or anyone else?

I agree, there is a concern with the original statement of "tossed down a hill". And like my sig says, plus that "statement" is why we have to look out for our "past time" fun, cause offroad enthusiast are always at the pointy end of the finger for everything.

Irresponsible people, whether they be "so-called" 4 wheelers that trash the environment, or idiot gun-owners, that both provide fodder for the "politicians", need their ****'s kicked and make me sick.

Well, it sounds like you have to carry a very heavy cross and for that you have my pity. Taking responsibility for the actions of every off-roader and insuring that they behave is a difficult life and an impossible task.

It's neat to watch how carefully posts of all sorts are read by some folks in order to glean a hint of heresy or aspostasy from a poster. The True Believers then have the opportunity to jump all over that heretic and proove their own dedication. And they'll mis-read even the simplest phases to show that they're more Pure of Heart. It's busy work.

Gosh, someone got a new Thesaurus for their birthday.

Fact remains that your comments indicate that you purposely destroyed the rig on the trail. You got called on it and now you have the gall to act all butt-hurt.

What piece of work.

Don't bother replying, you got nothing to say of any interest anymore.

Default Found the answer to my blown fuse!

This took forever plus a day due to a shoulder surgery but the answer was very simple. The wiring harness for the forward oxygen sensor had shorted to the exhaust manifold (behind the power steering pump on exhaust #1). I was able to pull the wiring harness away from the manifold and the Cherokee would start. Splicing in a new piece of wire and tie wrapping the harness away from the exhaust was the final answer. I hope everyone else's problem is so easy! I want to say thank you to everyone for all the help,
Bob
