Default Muffler Queastion, HELP??

Dumping FM40, I just got a stock style muffler. Does it really matter which direction I mount it? It is offset in- center out but will fit better center in offset out.

Ok, so the muffler is directional for flow? Because it fits better backwards.

It will act kinda like a clogged cat. Increased back pressure, not as bad perhaps, but definitely not healthy.
