Default Muffler leaking... LOL

Ive got a hole in my Muffler and didnt know it until today
I dont drive it much, just work on it since I got it.
Could this hole be the reason why it just barely passed smog on both emission tests. (California)

Pep boys and Orielly have mufflers that claim will work with my year, but they are very inexpensive, and look cheap.

Doubtful. Cherokees still pass emissions tests with cracked headers.
Weld over the hole if you are worried about it.

My first thought was to weld a patch over it, but I am out of shielding gas and it would cost me more than a new muffler, LOL.

2.25" is the exhaust size. Get a muffler than if it's too short add some pipe
