MTR vs. Interco
So my Jeep sees less than 3k miles a year but needs to be able to drive 100 miles to the trail and back. Also, I'd like to eventually make another 1k miles road trip in the Jeep. I've researched and read but still haven't decided:
35x12.50R15LT, Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar
35x12.5-15LT, LTB
36x13.50-15LT, IROK Bias Ply
I mainly wheel rocks and see no sand with a little mud. My real issue is this weekend my tires were my limited factor in getting up a ledge. They just would not stick to the rock face. All these tires weight the same ~67lbs. I'd love to run the IROK but I here it is much larger than a 36 so might settle for a LTB. Anyone have any input or experience on these tires?

i have run those bias iroks for 5 years. they are large and come in at about 36.8 inches where most tires come in smaller than their casted size.
mine balanced quite well on beadlocks, but most interco tires never balance very well.
i burned those ones up in 5 years of mostly trail dedicated driving with 3-4 hour drive each way to the trail and back. we do mostly weekend adventures.
bias tires don't do well on pavement.
i now run 33 inch old school mtr and like how well they balance. not as good in the wet rocks and muddy terrain as the iroks, but they do well.
i want to try some 35 inch swamper ltb next, probably bias ply as they do well aired down.
once my 33 mtr wear down on my tj's (i have 3 sets of mtr now on 3 jeeps) i will probably try the newer 33 inch kevlar mtr on the smaller jeeps.

Looks like Ill be going with the MTRs
The LTBs run skinny and aren't as wide
The IROKs run oversize and I'll just be asking for trouble

good call. you will like those mtr's. everyone i know that had the old style like mine and went to the new ones, like them better.
plus they balance perfectly and wear nice and even. and they work great in the wet rocks and mud.
you will get better gas mileage and easier on the brakes due to the weight savings too.
