Default motori diesel in aussie xj

Hi
I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport with a 2.5 VM diesel engine with 4 cylinder heads. Great engine but has just gone into "limp mode", I think. Plenty of power up to 2000rpm then goes totally "flat". I have tried disconnecting the battery for 10 mins. No fault codes show on dash after switching key on and off 3 times. I will try a Snap On scan tool on it but I have never used one.

If anyone has come across this particular problem I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

I experienced that recently.
There's a wire, which comes out of the cylinder/injector closest to the radiator (No1). it goes all the way to the fire-wall, and ends in a plug - plugged into another wire.
I undid the plug, and cleaned the contacts, plugged it back in, and everything was normal again.
Sorry for the lack of proper Jeep-vocabulary ;-)
Of course, your limp-mode may have a different cause then mine did... Mine had been spraying oil from a broken rocker-panel gasket right over that plug...
