Default motor swap question

okay so i just traded my toyota for a 94 cherokee which has 300,000 miles but runs much better than my previous cherokee which only had 200,000...anyways the guy gave me a spare motor with about 150k on it and the ecu and he said its from a 92..he said i could do a direct swap motor to motor with out changing out the ecu is this true??or do i have to swap it out because of the years

any help is great thanks

it will swap right in....i have an 01' engine in my 91 and im sure you can go the opposite way too. i would run the orig motor till it blows up. prob get another 75-100k out of it if you take care of it.
