Exclamation Motor Swap Gone Bad

I have a 1989 XJ 4.0. the motor went out and I found another motor out of a (I think 1993 Jeep) I am not sure on the year it is newer though. I swapped the intake, distributor so that my wiring harness would work. I tried swapping the alternator but the brackets wouldn't work so I left the newer model on. I got it all back together and no fire. I have narrowed it down to the crankshaft sensor. I didn't swap the flywheel (I didn't know to do this. it's my first time doing this) and now been told I needed to swap it also.

My question is can I just take a new model sensor and splice it in and it work or do I have to drop the trans and swap flywheels.?

The alternators wont work. Bendix systems used an internally regulated alternator. Mopar used a regulator built into the PCM.

Is their a mark on the crank and flex plate for alignment or is their a method like turning the #1 cylinder to top on both motors and marking them?

The bolts will only line up one way.
