Default Motor Swap from '95XJ 4.0 to '96ZJ4.0 HELP ASAP!!!!

so we bought a motor from a '96 ZJ and we are having major issues... please help. so we switched over my brackets and new water pump.... but we had to put an 4 cylinder water pump which is weird, the local AZ found that the water pump that was on it was off a 4 cylinder, which is kind of weird...we had to put a new waterpump on it to get the pulley for the belt to fit... so we also had to switch over my A/C Compressor bracket, and the fan that connects to the Compressor bracket is hitting my water pump where the pulley connects... and the bracket and alternator doesn't fit either... and it looks like my alternator has nowhere to go on... can someone help me out with what these codes are on my block and valve cover?: the way this motor is it seems that it was a single-fanned truck...which sounds like a regular jeep.. i think i got screwed.. but help with below.

trace #-53021440M2YJ

9 440 6 421 385113
PLT B/Code YR DATE SEQ NUM

IF:
6-26-95

NVH:
53020569

Engine ID
507MX28

Can someone tell me what the NVH means, and the IF, and the second code.. and at the end of the trace #, it says YJ... does this mean it's out of a wrangler?? because it was out of a supposed ZJ, but we never saw the truck it came out of, please help fast so we know if we need to go back to the salvage yard and B****and try to get our money back! thanks!!

I don't understand why people make this so complicated. Unbolt everything that can be unbolted from your 95 block and bolt it onto the new block... easy peasy.

oh and as i said before, the alternator has nowhere to go.... like on my 95 block... and if it's a YJ motor, i'm going and getting my money back and finding the right motor, because it's weird that the water pump is a 4cyl pump.. in my 4.0 I6

Let's see some pics then, because everything I've seen tells me the core block is the same. Changes weren't made until early 2000. You should not be using a 4-cylinder water pump, you should be using XJ 6cylinder parts.

The only differences between XJ, ZJ and YJ instalation is the the mounting brackets for where things go, i.e. alt, a/c, power steering. other than that, it is the same bloody engine.

ok I might be able to clarify stuff a bit better, im the kids dad, this is a YJ motor, i realize the block is the same and i should be able to swap all the brackets from old to the new motor, we have swapped AC compressor bracket over (fan mounts to it) old one didnt have the fan pulley, now we have a issue of the XJ fan hitting the waterpump pulley.

As far as why the waterpump was traced back to supposed japan made motor at autozone I have no idea I just put the same one back on it, i did this before realizing this was a yj motor...so this could be a issue why its hitting possible this waterpump sticks out farther?

The Alt bracket will not bolt up on this motor like it was on the old motor, possible different timing chain cover? top bolt holesticks out past the others so it isnt flush like the bracket. so now I got to think about finding a timing chain cover for a XJ so that bracket works.

power steering pump havent got to its in the jeep still.

Since the junkyard lied to me...think im going to see about taking it back and getting my money back and going and finding one that bolts in without changing everything around and spending more money on this turd.

went and got the correct water pump, need to call the salvage yard and get the alternator bracket off the old motor or find another one and the pulley thats goes on the water pump and might be good to go.

Everthing went good when we got all the correct stuff on the front of motor, got it all bolted up the other day, only issue now torque converter bolt holes dont match flywheel or whatever you call it, pulled it back out today, measured to confirm...now to get correct one.
