My 91 Sport came stock with the D30/Chrysler 8.25 axle combo. I think we have figured out the mystery, Big95. I think your Big 95 XJ is a Sport model like mine.

Page 5 in that link of the manual will give you the vin code break down.. That will tell you what Trim Level you have..

Ok according to the link nick posted , the 5th and 6th digits of the vin are what tells it, 5=J meaning it is a 4x4 Cherokee and 6=2 meaning it is the base model. This is kind of what i expected but according to Buck the base and sport models have very small differences. Thanks all for the help!

HEre it is for anyone else that would like to know...

5th digit
J=4wd Cherokee
T=2wd Cherokee

6th digit
1="S" (E)
2=Base (L)
3=Pioneer/Islander (M)
4=Sahara (H)
5=Renegade/Grand (P)
6=Sport (S)
7=Limited (box) (X)

Im not sure what the letter in the () are for but this is what it said...

It's funny cause seems they used the same vin plates and #'s both with the Wrangler and the Cherokee..

I noticed that as well. I didnt think there were any Rengade or sahara XJs but i guess ya never know...

You can usually tell by the leather seats,wood grain,cruise,tilt,and PW and PL
