moaning noise at highway speeds Wheel Bearing :edit: or tires?

Well got the thing on jacks and no play at all in the wheels also rotated and no friction whatsoever.....I know it can still be the bearings though. But notice that all tires were mounted the same direction (which means that the 2 right tire treads were facing to the rear and the left 2 were facing the front!!!) damn discount tire
I actually think its the tires at this point or alignment issue...only happens at 60 mph+ and also vibrates a bit at this speed also goes faster and faster with speed, tire tread looks fine, maybe a balancing issue.....whatcha think?

well I noticed a moaning (like rubbing tire) noise today while on the freeway. It seems to start at about 50mph and the faster I go the faster the moan goes. At 50mph the sound happens at about every 5 tire rotations??????? bad bearing maybe? how can I check?

Check the right rear wheel bearing as these always seem to go first (I had 2 go on 2 different rears) I think its around $10-30 at AZ...Tj

steer left and then right, if the pitch changes it is a wheel bearing. If you turn right and it gets louder, then it is a left side bearing and visa versa. Also, Chopped up tires will cause this noise. AND I had a near identical noise on my GC and it was the front driveshaft bolts were loose. I have heard many a wheel bearings make noise with no play.

Wheel bearings have more of a constant growl when they are going bad. I would check the front u-joints in the knuckles.

highway rumble too
i have a 2003 grand cherokee limited v-8 and i have these same issues i have tried alomst everything i can think of ...brand new tires...replaced the steering dampner/stabilizer...all brand new sway bars on the front ....brand new traction bar....and yesterday spent 160 bucks and replaced every u-joint on the vehicle including the knuckle ball on the rear of the front drive shaft that i was told wears as fast as the ujoints themselves do..
i am at a loss to get ride of this rumble/vibration i get at 70+ mph i get on the freeway...i feel it in the stearing wheel ,gas pedal, the seats its not a massive vibration but you definitely feel it and hear it and it is not normal..the jeep runs smooth as a cadillac ride until i hit about 70 mph and it stops if i slow down or let off the throttle but starts right back up soon as i hit the accelerator again and gets worse the faster you go...
i tried to see if you can accelerate past it but it just gets worse and worse up to 90 mph and i backed off afraid something would break.
i really need to figure this out its my 1st jeep and i love it except for this problem.. it is all OEM i have done no modification to it other than put a cool air intake air filter on it to improve gas mileage

If it gets louder when u swerve hard one way or the other then its a bearing... Which ever side has the most weight when it gets louder is the side thats bad...

Yep. U-joints (if they aren't completely shot yet) are often quiet while driving straight ahead, and equally noisy turning left or right. Bearings tend to make noise driving straight, and favor one direction when turning.
