Default MISS/CONVERTER

i had a knock and check eng. light yesterday going to work. on the way home the knock went away. reset the light said cyl. 1 and 5 misfire detected, i think i just got a dose of water, cause i filled up at a different station the night before. kinda sounded like an injector knock to me.

also wondering if there is anyway to eliminate some of the converters on the exhaust. i cant imagine a little 00' 4.0l needing three converters.

I know i can prolly get rid of the converter in front of the muff. But not sure about the two near the engine, since they have the o2 sensors in them, any advise. Thanks

i will get pic's later. i think the one in front of the muff. is just a resonator, maybe. at idle i cant feel a whole lot of exhaust so i think one is partially plugged cause my mpg's when from 20 to 17, and a very slight loss of power.

If the rig is a DD leave the converters alone.

#1 It's illegal.

#2 The PCM will not be able to adjust the injector pulse width properly without a correct reading from the O2 sensor behind the cat. Your XJ will run like crap.

I was going to replace the two at the downpipe along with the o2 sensors, but the one just before the muff. I was going to delete it since there is no sensor in that one. I think i have one starting to plug. Thanks for the help just wanted opinions first
