Default Misfire?

Alright, So my check engine light came on today on my way to work. so i tried the key trick to get the codes on my 96 xj. I "think" I came out with 43 which according to this http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm is a misfire in one or more cylinders. It sounds like it could be right, because my jeep's symptoms kind of feel like its chugging a bit and is quite rough at idle and low speeds. Agree? Disagree?

The plugs actually looked bad when I just checked them like 2 days ago. The spacing seemed a bit to far. Also, I couldn't tell ya the last time it saw a new coil or wires. I was planning on at least replacing the plugs, do you think based on my symptoms a new coil, and wires can help out?

Always, always start with fresh tuneup hardware for basic misfires.

That means fresh champion copper plugs gapped to .035, new plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Although not related, check your air filter and belt while you are at it for good measure.

Preventive maintenance pays for itself many times over.
