uh. for a daily driver, spools are bad. your tires will wear considerably when turning, and theyre a nuisance in rain or snow. by nuisance i mean hazard. spools should be pretty much left for mud boggers and drag racers.

no snow down here... and i only drive it really when its warm and sunny (no roof lol) but if i do get caught in the rain i fishtail everywhere anyway... its just fun... plus with no top my butt end is light as crap... the tire wear would suck though... but theres used ones on CL all day along... heck ive had my BFG AT's on gor a year and only gave $100 for all 4... so even that isnt a reall killer i guess...

For 50 bucks i say do it and let us know how it works out. I got a powertrax no slip which i love, but 450 bucks later I wonder if throwing a mini spool in would have been all that bad. Try it out and let us know how it works. There are so many "should i weld my DD?" threads that it would solve a lot of discussion.

As stated prior a spool or mini spool is for pretty much drag race only. A very good friend of mine has a race car that runs 8.40's on the quarter with a 496 big block chevy. It has a spool in the rear end, thats the only use i see for one.

Could you put one in your jeep "Yes" would it be the best idea to do it on a DD "No"

Every one wants to be a tough guy and say" i run a spool" or i have welded spiders. Yeah and nothing will ever happen to me and if i hit some water on the street its more fun cause ill spin out. Speaking that i do have a daughter, thats what slowed me down cause i used to be one of those idiots.

What if someones kid was playing on the side walk and you hit some water and slid out of control and hit them? would you still have that same cool guy attitude? Im not attacking you but, ive seen things like this happen and i dont mean any disrespect.

Please people be safe out on our public roads, that is why we have our jeeps to have fun off road.

I always thought spools were dangerous and destructive because of what I read and heard about them. Then I drove a wrangler 3500 miles on a trip with 40s and a spool in the rear and it was fine. Drives fine in the snow also. Now I think I will put one in my Cherokee also. Don't believe everything you hear or read. It could be worth your while to try it for yourself and see what you think. Try a mini spool. They are really cheap! This is the jeep same as on the trip to Florida and back. Drove very nice for a what it is.
