Default michigan lift laws???

Well to get started im getting a rubicon express 7.5 long arm kit and i want to run 35x12.50R15. i dont think the lift is going to be the full 7.5 just because im running a lot of extra weight in bumpers, winch, roof rack, 35 inch tire spare, sub woofer, and skid plates. My question to you is do you think im going to have a problem with the police?? This is not a daily driver but i would still like the option to be able to drive it on the street

Well have you taken the time to look up your local lift laws and regs?? I would start there. As far as the police bugging you, my father is a cop and I know unless it is a danger to others he wont bother anyone. Good Luck!!

yea i already looked up the laws on it. It goes by GVW, 4900lbs and down is 26inchs 4901lbs to 7500lbs is 28inches. Im not really sure what that 26inches is measured from. The only reason i ask is because i see much bigger trucks and what not on the road that are lifted retardly and i guess i was just wondering if anybody knows anyone thats been pulled over for it.

I've lived in MI all my life n never heard of anyone being pulled over because of a lift. But the only way to be sure ur legal is to follow whatever the law is. I'm not sure where the 26 or 28" is measured from either. Maybe ground to bumper? That doesn't seem right tho. I see trucks all the time at about 4 times that height.

In MN its 25 inches to the very bottom part of the bumper. I have a buddy with a CJ-7 and when he was running 40s the cops like to stop and have a chat. I don't think they ever ticketed him for it. Now he runs 36s and he is legal. Thats up here in Northern MN.

Sometimes if you lift so high some places require mud flaps, other than that you should be good.

You shouldn't have a problem. There are a ton of trucks in MI thats are lifted very high. I think the cops just dont care. Never seen anyone get pulled over for it.

im not sure where u live in michigan but in the saginaw area they are a little picky 4 it.. ive been pulled over 2 times now and ive been told by both that they go by frame height and bumper height, fram is measured by the center of vehicle at bottom to ground has to be no more than 24 inches is what i was told, but ive been noticing in the laws ive been reading which are old i cant seem to find anything new and up to date so not to sure if theyve changed... if the wieght is under 4500 its 24 if its 4500-7500 its 24 inches if over 7500 its 26 inchsnow the bumper is measured from the highest part of the bottom of the bumper and its classes are 4500 and below 26 inchs 4500-7500 28 inchs and over 7500 is 30 inches. hope that helps ya!!!
