Measurements of stock battery?
Can someone tell me the dimensions of a stock battery in a 99 4.0? More specifically, the height. The cherokee I just bought has the wrong battery that is too tall and the hood won't shut, so I need to get a new battery. Just want to know what to get.

When you go to buy the battery, the counter person will tell you the stock 'group size'. For example a '24F' or a '65'. Once you know the dimensions, you can choose options such as cold cranking amps, post configuration etc.

I trimmed my battery tray a little and put in the group 34 battery from my Grand caravan since it was only a few months old. A benefit of it was that it has 800 cold cranking amps (1000 regular CA) vs the stock size 610CCA/710CA. Lots more power capacity in the bigger battery.
