Default Map sensor temporary removal ?

I need to remove the map sensor to access the temp. sender and install a new ground wire.

If I disconnect it will that give me a computer code or something else?

I am hoping I can just unbolt it and let it hang out of the way.

Thanks.

I think you are fine there. I doubt anything you do with the battery disconnected could be an issue as long as it is put back right when you power it back up. I doubt it would be in issue otherwise as well.

Do be sure and not muck up the hex on that sender, a really ugly place to deal with something stripped/rounded.

Thats one of the reasons I want to move the map sensor out of the way.
I installed a new sender and it was a pain, 2 extensions and a u joint on my ratchet and I almost cross threaded it.

Thanks.

Cool, so you got it. 7/16, or 3/8 deep well on that sender?

Yea I used deep well sockets. Even after removing the map sensor it was tricky getting in there, LOL.
I forget what size it was.
Today I removed the new stock sender and installed an aftermarket sender that came with a gauge I purchased, it was the same thread size and pitch.

Really? I need an idiot light temp sender for one of my 90's. What did it cost, around $25 IIRC? (I'm up near Crescent City)

IIRC, it was only like $16 from orielly. This one. I dont know if this will work for your year though. Oreiily has a pretty good search system after you input your vehicle info.

I also have just the dummy light and I originally got the sender for that but after checking all the grounds and continuity, and the bulb on the dash the new sender was not working so I went ahead and bought a gauge that came with a sender for the gauge, it was an equuis from oreilly, It was $23, Just a cheapie setup but if It works for while I will be happy.

I did the gauge as kind of an emergency thing.
