Have a 96 xj sport. yesterday it started to make a clanking sound when I take off and if I hit the gas in a turn. It sounds like is coming from the drive shaft in between the motor and transmission. Any info will help thanks

 

Could be axle u joints.


Moved to OEM Tech.

 

I have a 90xj 4.0 It would make a sound like something was banging on the exhaust pipe when I powered turnned to right. Discovered I had a busted right motor mount which caused the motor to lift and put the exhaust pipe against the frount driveshaft universal joint. jerrys90

 

Thanks for you help.went to a frends shop.he is going to put it up on the lift he thinks its the transfer case
