Default Low Beam question

Hello evrybody! I just purchased a 96 Cherokee, and I have a problem with the headlights. The high beams work, but the low beams do not come on. When I first pull the plunger to turn on the lights, all of the instruments and etc light up, but not the actual headlights. I have to click the turn signal lever to turn on the high beams, which work, but if I try and go back to low, nothing. Any ideas?

Bulbs might be a little loose. Try reseating the connections. It happens with my headlights from time to time.

Agreed ~~^

Now XJ headlights on low suck even when working. mine work fine in hi and low. But I still drive with the highs on and have never had anyone notice. XJ lows suck.

Could be as simple as two bad sealed beam assemblies. A simple test light could help you diagnose this problem.

Alright everybody, I too believe that it is the switch on the column that controls high/low beams, turn signals, etc... I went and purchased one, but does anyone know of a replacement guide?

I just had the same issue today and the problem was the wiring harness. Just under the air box the main wire harness plugs into the front light harness. Mine was corroded so badly I just removed the plug and spliced the wires. I found out this is a common problem. I'd check that before you start buying parts.

I checked the bulbs, and they are good. I replaced both the plunger switch and the turn signal switch to no avail. I have checked all the fuses and they are all good. What else should I check?

Did you check the wiring harness connection under the air cleaner box like I mentioned in my last response to your question?
