Default Lovely rust holes!

I knew about the holes in the floor pan of my Jeep for a while now. One is about the size of a golf ball and the other is pretty large, probably about 8 inches long by 4 inches wide or so. they are on the driver side where the floor pan just starts to curve from vertical to horizontal.

My plan is to find some sheet metal or something and have a friend weld it to the underside after removing the rusty metal of course. Is that a good way to do it or should I tear up the carpet and weld from the inside?

Unless you want to catch your jeep on fire I would take the carpet out and remove old parts and weld inside the vechile for best results.

You might also think about unplugging any sensitive electronics before you start welding, like ECU, ign module, MSD box, stereo/amp stuff, etc...

True true. I have never welded before I have a friend who I am going to see if he can do it for me and maybe even teach me how.

Of course you should tear up the carpet if you don't wanna use your fire extinguisher... This would be critical since the interior is filled with stuff that are sensitive to fire...

lol yeah. I am going to tear up the carpet so I don't set the thing on fire. Very excited to start learning to weld. Really everything I am slowly learning has been fun. Well after the gut wrenching worry when something breaks or doesnt go as planned. Aside from that its been fun.
