loud ticking noise when on idle

Default loud ticking noise when on idle

i have a very annoying ticking noise from the top of my engine but only when on idle when i touch the throttle it goes could this be the timing chain and are they adjustable on the 2.5 petrol engine ? Any ideas as to what else it could be ?

How is the oil pressure? Could be some worn pushrods.

oil pressure seems fine i have just started it and the ticking is loud and hard to figure out where its coming from going to check which part of the engine its coming from in a bit with a screw driver to my ear .

right checked it today and its my timing chain rattling my jeep has done 147 thou will i need to replace the chain or adjust it ?

no adjustment only replace..there cheap.

i meant how much are they to buy new in the usa ? I might get one sent over if there is a massive price difference

ok so i just called the main stealers and was surprised at the price for the chain its only 36 pound and the tensioner is only 31 pound will i need to replace the cogs and sliders ? Also whats the best oil to run 10/40 ?

ypu should be able to get a "kit" that had new sprockets and a chain....
