Lots of Play
My 92 XJ sat in storage (too cold to fix) over the winter. I now have some time to look at it.
I find that the steering wheel has lots of play. I can quickly turn the wheel back-and-forth a couple of times from 2 o'clock to 10 o'clock and the jeep will go straight without the wheels actually responding to the steering. I cannot recall it doing that before. I know the jeep's steering is not the most responsive..but 2-10 is quite a steer.
Is this normal? What tests should I try to check the steering?
Thanks.

It is absolutely not normal but we're used to it, right? have someone sit at the steer doing the play, get under the jeep and look for worn steering heads. Check also the track bar bracket bolts on the frame, tighten if necessary.
