Exclamation Lost Key! Help!

If I've lost my only key to my 1998 Jeep Cherokee, what must I do now?

(I seem to have had the worst luck since joining the Jeep team.)

Cheers.

bring your vin number to a dealership, they will let you know what your key code is, then take that to a locksmith shop. the locksmith shop should have no problem making a new key for you right in front of you.

Yeah, I lost the key.

The VIN to what kind of dealership? Jeep?
Are all same year / same model key codes the same? Or is each VIN individual to it's own key code?

every vin is different. Take it to a jeep dealer and they should be able to help you with it. The vin is in the dash up by the windshild on the drivers side corner

You'll need to take proof of ownership with you..

Lesson 101: Have a duplicate of your jeep's key so you'll have a substitute in case its lost....

I can't drive my Jeep without the keys, so I can't take it to a dealership. I'll take the VIN & title to the vehicle today to, I assume, a regular JEEP dealership.

i know it doesnt sound like much.. but look in the fridge.. everytime i loose something i always find it in the fridge for some reason.. mabey its because im always in there..
it even worked for my g/f.. hopefuly it works for you to.

things found in frige: food, keys, nuts, bolts, wallet, ipod, tv remotes, and i think i found a book in there once..

if not do what the other guys said and try to get the vin to the dealership..

ANY jeep dealership will be able to tell you what code your key cut is. yes. they should have the information you need. when i lost mine, i went to a very small jeep dealership near me, and they were able to give me the code
