Default Looks like im doing an engine swap

I was having some no start issues on my 01. Was loosing spark, and after the cam and crank sensors were replaced, along with the oil pump shaft, a loose ground connection was found. The jeep started and ran fine all day, but the next morning It would not fire again. The teeth on the oil pump shaft sheared off again. The pan was dropped today and I found out I need a cam, cam bearings, oil pump, and another oil pump shaft. If I'm going that far I may as well do a bottom end rebuild and ditch the 331 head. At this point I'm not sure if the head failed for the PO and they just swapped heads and left the coolant damage to the cam for the next owner.

I have a lead on a 97 parts jeep that runs great just has front end damage.

I will use my truck for the rest of the winter and do a slow build up of the new engine, new water pump, alternator, oil pump, and most gaskets and seals. Installing Brown Dog motor mounts as well.

I will take pics along the way.

The parts jeep is a 1997. Is there a way I can use the distributor instead of the coil pack?

I thought about changing the ECM but then the 01 has the 2 cats on the manifold plus more o2 sensors.

yeah you can, Google it up. Basically it's just swapping parts. I've heard it can be a nightmare
