Default looking to replace exhaust system

hello guys,
driving home today from work during our nice little snow storm we had in NY and my jeep out of nowhere started sputtering, shutting down and didn't want to do anything. looked underneath and noticed the cat was glowing red, so i assume its clogged??
the rest of the exhaust is pretty crap so I'm just going to replace all.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good kit, this is for a beater jeep, so looking for lowest cost total. Was going to replace from the exhaust manifold back, could you let me know what all exactly i would need.
Also, i never really worked with a shop before, but could i purchase everything and bring it to them and have them install?

thank you.

2.5" piping all the way back to the tailpipe. Flow master muffler with a high flowing cat. It's exactly what I have. Paid about $300 including labor. It will also give you a nice not too deep sounding jeep.

Yup, I went with a 40 series. You can go 44 but that's a more aggressive tone. My jeeps a DD and didn't want to drown out the radio or get annoyed by the exhaust. To me, 40 is just right but some prefer 44.

That's about how much I paid and I'd do the same. Go to a shop instead of buying a kit and tell them what you need. If they're a good shop they'll even bend the piping to fit your needs.

thanks for the help guys.
called a few shops in my area and they wanted to charge me $600 for a new cat!! Unbelievable, they were hesitant to install a cat not purchased by them because of dumb NY laws.
Fortunately I found a place I won't name, that'd cut, weld, custom piping, and install for around $130.

I ended up purchasing the cat and muffler off performance-curve.com
went with a 2.25 thunder bolt cat http://performance-curve.com/590005.aspx
and a 2.25 perf-curve two chamber muffler http://performance-curve.com/FB2442.aspx

looking for the cheap fix, the jeeps a beater

anyone have experience with either of these products

thanks.
