One difference is that "body" lifts are not applicable to the XJ.

Idk what you have but xj are unibodys so you can't do a body lift.a leveling kit is to make the front and back an even height..and the suspension lift is what you need to go for..look into a rough country or rustys lift

Im thinking that if they refer to a "body lift" in regards to an XJ they are really just talking about blocks and spacers? Atlest thats what I do cause there is no true body lift. Leveling kits are just as mentioned above ^^^ and a suspension lift is new springs and leaf spring packs. The best way to go is the suspension lift. Its a little bit more pricey but 1. It looks better to anyone who knows what they are looking at and 2. They are just all around better performance wise. Your suspension will function better with one.

Body Lift - disconnect the body from the frame and raise it using blocks between the body and the frame. ( as stated above this cannot be done on unibody vehicles such as the XJ )

Suspension Lift - increase the height and travel of the suspension system.

Body lifts I would say are done for tire clearance only as the frame height above ground is not changed. Suspension lifts raise the height of the frame above the ground.

So another significant difference.

Body Lift - clearance for tires
Suspension Lift - clearance for obstacles on the ground.

Body lift contributes to increased ground clearance if you run larger tires with it because the larger tires obviously raise the vehicle up.

How's that for a SWAG? ( Scientific Wild Arsed Guess ) LOL
