Default lock or lift

what would be more prefered and get me more use for the time being, 3 inch lift or aussie locker? stock xj but getting 31's dont climb but love the mud.

I would say locker would give you more capibility in the mud. with a lift sure you have more clearance but thats not going to help you when you cant get the power to the ground.

For me though, im trying to get an xj ready for offroad i went with a lift 1st just because I like the looks it gives.

very good point but very concerned with clearing 31's on stock heigh

I've seen 35s clear on stock height. just depends how much you're willing to cut.

31s are very possible with trimming though.

yea, its your choice, if i wanted to get it the mud quick without getting stuck i would go in this order -lockers - lift - tires, or just know your prolly going to get stuck easy and have a back up plan

well looks like i may find some triming forms befor i choose, im kinda planning on just lookinag round for a good old junk yard saving find for the lift.

now on the tires i hate to do it tho but the tires on it are not safe at all, bleeding air out of the weather cracking on the sides

have you ever thought about just welding the rear end. then you can have a redneck locker and be able to afford your lift

i cut my fenders and ran 31s no problem, didnt rub bad at all.

Lock it then lift it. Dont matter what size tires you have if you don't spin them all.
