Default Locations pcv, cat converter, idle jet

Hi,

New in this forum. Just bought a 86 cherokee 2.8L V6.
Having the problem running rough when warmed up.
Searched this forum and concluded I could easily check some things.
PCV valve, cat converter and idle jet. But I couldn't find the exact locations. Can anyone help me where to find these? Description, picture.
And do I have an iac on this car?
Thanks

Idk much about the AMC XJ's...... But I bet the PVC valve would be on one of the valve covers. Your cat would be before the muffler and the IAC would be on your throttle body.....

I will have a check for this pcv valve.
This so called cat converter is positioned between exhaust and outlet manifold? Looks like part of the exhaust?
My car is carburetted, does it have an IAC?
If it is possible could You add some pictures from these components?
Thanks

If you don't know where to find the catalytic converter, I suggest taking the vehicle to a mechanic.

I am not a mechanic, but everything written here I have to translate. I am from Europe. For example an catalytic converter is an catalysator!
Therefore it is difficult for me to understand the words. Samething I would ask You to check the hetelucht sensor.
So pictures would help a lot.
Thanks

I was going to say the same thing to you about taking it to a mechanic. But your reply make it clear why you ask.

In regards to the catalytic converter, if you follow the exhaust from the
tailpipe (from the back of the vehicle) then there will be the muffler (metal box) then maybe a small section of pipe and then you will find your catalytic converter (smaller metal box). This is how it is on every vehicle over here.
Don't worry about the wires you see coming from the exhaust pipe, they are your O2 sensors unless they are damagef ( one after the the catalytic converter and one in your down pipe from the header.) Take a look under there it'll. make sense lol.

Can such a catalytic converter be broken without seeing it from the outside. If so can this result in engine running bad?
Is there one under my 86?
Thanks.

You can't tell if its bad from the outside..... unless its rusted through..... Hit it with a rubber mallet and listen for a rattle....
Yes it can make the vehicle run poorly if it is bad....

Since you have a 2.8 with a problematic carb, the chances are high that it has been running too rich and the inside of the catalytic converter is melted and plugging the exhaust. Almost any OBDI vehicle will only have one O2 sensor that is located upstream of the converter. The carb on the 2.8 has the TPS built into it, it is also known for the throttle shaft wearing and causing a vacuum leak. The 2.8 is not known to be a bullet proof engine.

Can I check the O2 sensor?
This throttle shaft wearing how do I check this?
Can I do a TPS check?
I have inserted an image. Can anyone tell me what these components are?

Check on the Internet and see if you can find a Factory Service Manual (FSM) in either book form or a downloadable version.
