Hi - I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee Sport. On my shifter the strip that indicates Park, Neutral, Reveres OD, etc doesn't light up, making it less than easy at night to always find the right gear. What's the solution to this?

Try changing the bulb under the panel.

 

^^^^X2, If that don't work. Start checking with a volt meter. In the mean time count the clicks. Not trying to be rude. But manaul shifters don't light up either.

 

Probably just the bulb. The illuminated plate for the automatic should be same one as your transfer case shifter, bulb number 194
