ABSOLUTELY DONNOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do shackles or blocks to the rear if your leafs are already starting to sag. Any lift manufacturer will tell you if the leafs are starting to sag shackles or blocks will just put more leverage stress on them and cause them to counter arc much faster. Rusty's Off Road sells a very short AAL that is said to raise the XJ 1.5". My Rusty's 4.5" packs were starting to sag and a set of these AALs leveled my Jeep right back out. I also know that 98CherokeeSport had a set of Rubicon Express 4.5" leafs on his XJ that were doing the same thing and the Rusty's 1.5" baby AAL fixed him up and leveled his Jeep out too. Rusty himself recommended this fix to me. I don't really think any of these self proclaimed experts on the forum here have more experience with what lift works on a Jeep Cherokee than Rusty of Rusty's Off road. These little 1.5" lift AALs are sold at Rusty's for $29.95 plus shipping. It's really not that bad of a deal.

I can't tell you how adding S10 leafs will effect you Jeeps ride height. I've never made a bastard pack for my XJ before. All I can tell you is what worked for me.

Go to JeepinOutfitters and order up one or two pairs of old man emu AAL's. These tend to lift the jeep around 1/2" to 1" and don't affect the ride quality like traditional 1/2" thick AAL's do.

Adding a shackle to a sagging leaf pack will probably make it worse because you are flattening the pack even more and allowing the chance for it to invert (if your bumpstops are not set).

By the way, are the bumpstops set properly back there? No bumpstops or lack of is usually the culprit for sagging springs.

On our stock 01 XJ to mend the sagging springs until I can afford rear springs we slapped on a set of
Leaf Spring Helpers Leaf Spring Helpers
that used to be on an old farm truck. Brought the rear almost back to stock ride height. They are a cheap fix even if you dont have some lying around.
