Lift Questions
So im trading my subs and amp for a 92 jeep cherokee 4x4 that has a 3.5 inch lift. Well the motor in it is knockin so i was goin take the lift off and whatever else i need. Well with the 3.5 inch lift will i have to do a TC drop or longer drive shafts? What all will need to be done?

if 3.5" is the final hieght you want to stay at, a TC drop kit and some degree shims for the rear axle will to the trick. if you decide to go higher eventually you will have to get a sye kit and cv driveshaft. OR if your on a budget you can do a RE hack n tap kit. good luck man.
You will only need a TC drop or shims if you develop driveline vibes after installing the lift. Your stock driveshaft will be fine at that lift height. But.... before you go and pull the lift off of the donor XJ, take a little time to find the cause of the knock. You could get lucky and find that the torque converter bolts have backed out and are making contact with the bell housing. Also check the flexplate if it is an auto trans to see if it is cracked or broken. You could end up with a second XJ to use as a dedicated trail rig just by taking a little time to check everything out.
Thanks for the replies and winston. That is a good idea but i dont think it is that becuase what the kid told me is that they had to run straight lucaus oil in it just to quite the knock down becuase lucaus oil is so think. But who knows i might get lucky. What do i do on a TC drop? It looks like just loosen up the TC cross member and then slide the spacers in and bolt it back up. If the motor is knocking then im goin sell it for parts after i take the lift off so if anyone needs anything let me know.
The TC drops will require you to replace the existing mounting hardware because it will be to short. It uses 1 bolt and 1 stud with a nut on each side of the crossmember. You will have to remove the stud, and there are several methods of doing so, and replace those with longer grade 8 bolts. If the motor is trash in the 92 and you decide to sell it for parts, where are you located, I may be interested.

Before you go dropping and shimming, take some time to examine the angle of the pinion and out put on the tcase. If they are real close in angle, you will be able to leave it alone. 3.5" is not a big lift.

Nope none of those just moved here. And if i was to sell the whole thing probaly about 400 bucks. It has a good transmisson and transfercase good rear end and front end and drive shafts. Doors that have no dents. The motor wont try and start and i think its becuase the starter is locked up. I will try and get a picture of it soon. Its like a maroon color
