Default Lift kit questions - RC 3"

OK so I was unpacking all the goodies that UPS dropped off at my house last night. I was a little confused as to the contents of the packages:

Lift kit (separate box)
Steering stabilizer and 5 blue shock boots

Opened the lift kit and find it contains the following:

4 shocks (check)
Two coil springs (check)
2 lift blocks (huh?)
4 black shock boots (huh?)
Mounting hardware - U-bolts and such (check)
*Edit to add* 2 AAL Springs

This morning I checked the website I ordered it from and it has this:

"Complete kit at a low price! Everything needed for a complete lift. Withstand conditions that cause stock suspensions to fail. Allows space for larger tires. 4 Hydro 8000 shocks feature radial tuned velocity sensitive valving, huge capacity and oversized construction. Kit includes front coil springs, rear add-a-leaf springs and shocks. Shock boots sold separately, 16165G.
This lift kit is designed for XJ's with DANA 35 rear ends and only include "U" bolts for the 2.75" axle tube."

So not sure what the heck the 1.5" rear blocks are for, the installation instructions say to use one or the other (lift blocks or AAL, and that AAL will get you more lift). I do want a raked rear end and am building a custom Bastard Pack using XJ and S10 springs + the AAL. Looking for about 4" in the back. I don't think I was supposed to get the blocks or the shock boots but the box was drop shipped from RC... If I would have known I could have saved $20 on shock boots (although I do like the blue ones better than black).

Anyone want some 1.5" blocks and 4 black shock boots cheap?

;-)

This is exactly why I will never order from JC Whitney.. Their RC kits are always a mix and match setup and their descriptions are never accurate. If I ever buy RC stuff it will always be directly from RC themselves.

Well I spoke to RC about it and they told me the AAL is 3" and the blocks are only used on the commanche. The boots were included in error but they told me to keep them. ;-)

I would have liked to order from RC themselves but found it hard to pay $75 more for the exact same thing, except RC themselves no longer include the u-bolts and JCW does (RC has the shock boots and no Ubolts).

I have the same lift. Also ordered it from JC Whitney. Called RC because the U bolts weren't long enough. DO NOT add the blocks. They shouldnt be included in this kit.
By the way. I really like my lift. Looks great with 31x10.50s

How can you use blocks on a Comanche unless your lowering it. There spring under in the rear?

Call up JC and ask them why the kit came with two giant steel Legos.

Comanche is Spring over. It's partly why some people use comanche axles and do spring over to get more lift.

I had a coupon for JC Whitney for 20% off as well as free shipping on orders over $100. My lift kit was only $188 including shipping with the four shocks. I would have liked to order from RC themselves but they would only match the JCW price (I called and asked) but not do free shipping or the 20% off.

I'm happy with the kit I got, we'll see if it stays that way once it is out of the boxes in my house and under the Jeep! ;-)
