Lift on the Cheap.. need some help
Im wondering how tall stock front coils on a 96 XJ are? Because i was thinking about it and wanted to see if front coils out of an older ttb ranger would fit and provide any lift. Thanks, JOhn

springs are not that hard to swap in and out. If you have some coil spring compressors and the springs laying around throw them in. although I doubt that rangers springs would net much if anything since its a light duty truck.

How Much lift are you lookin for? Cuz I know that the front springs from a V8 ZJ will give you about a 1.5'' lift

your best bet is the roughcountry 3" lift for $255 I think carparts has it for $200. comes with shocks and everything you need. for me a homebrew lift isnt worth it after i add buying shocks and what the junkyards around here charge for parts. JMO

everyone will tell you stuff that you NEED. you dont, i have lifted a jeep 3.5 inches for less than $50 and crap i had laying around off of other cars.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
but that jeep got jumped, rolled, and burried for the last 1.5 years. still tracks straight on the road, hasnt sagged, and hasnt really broke anything ecept windows and body panels

This is a trail truck that i take and beat around with in the wood behind my house. So im not looking to spend a ton of money. Trying to buy used or junkyard parts. I can get new shocks for like $40 from advance that will fit using stock ones of other vehicles. And i just need coils for the front. Dont want to spend the $99 from rustys plus shipping cause its not worth it to me.

For a really cheap 3.5 lift I would get a set of ZJ springs $30(Junkyard), a set of 2'' coil spacers $38(Rustys), 3'' Blocks $35(Advance Auto), and those $40 shocks you mentioned

I've never actually found out what a ''Bastard Pack'' is. And I'm not a very big fan of blocks myself, but they sure are a cheap and easy way to lift leaf springs

bastard pack (in a nut shell) is taking spring under leaf springs (higher arch) and putting them under a jeep main leaf making it arh and giving you lift. any hieght between 2-4 inches can be achieved by using different combos of xj springs and the spring under springs.
read the link ealier in the thread its got real good info on them. They usually cost me between 25 and 40 depending on where i get the donor springs and making hardware
